Technology Acceptance among Students and Teachers inBangladeshi Universities

Insights from Pabna University ofScience and Technology

Abstract

The study explores the level of technology acceptance and usage among students and teachers at Pabna University of Science and Technology. Using a mixed-method research approach and cross-sectional research design, data were gathered from 650 students of five faculties using stratified random sampling and from 10 teachers using convenience sampling. The findings of the study reveal that a significant number of students accept and use technology due to perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. As students believe that technology helps them to achieve better academic performance, provides them valuable resources for learning and enhances their learning experiences. Additionally, the students find it easy to learn new technology. They also agree that using technology for their coursework is not complicated. Also, they are confident in their ability to use technological tools for learning.  It also found out by this study that university’s central lab does not have adequate computers and seating arrangements. And structures of all the departments of university are not fully technological-based. The teachers want to integrate technology more and more in teaching method as they believe using technology, they can make better understand a topic to the students. They are preferring preparing result using technology as it is time saving. But the teachers stated that there are still some teachers who are resistant to use technology in teaching, result preparation and in different tasks.
